" Helena Victoria Wagner was born at Waterloo, Feb. 21, 1865 and attended school near Waterloo and Blairsburg. Her mother died in childbirth. Her father gave the infant Helena and an older brother to the maternal grandparents by the name of Faulkners, who were of Dutch descent and could not speak English. Her father moved on to Oregon and married again. From letters received, her raised a refined and well educated family....
The Borland's were known as pioneers of the community. James passed away May 23, 1951 at the home of his son. His wife died following an accident. They were going down the Butler hill in the horse drawn buggy. A run away team of horses behind them came down the hill and jumped in the buggy, injuring Helena severely. She died the next day. Both are interred in Oakland Cemetery, side by side." Pg 182-183
