Catherine A. Mone, 72, of Shirley, died peacefully at her Daughter's residence on January 5, 2011. Catherine was born in Brooklyn, New York. She worked as an office manager for the Colonial Youth and Family Services organization. Catherine was very active in community affairs and loved the work she was doing through Colonial Youth. She was an avid reader and enjoyed outings with her friends. She will be sorely missed by the "Magnificent Seven" which consisted of her best friends and co-workers, Lynda, Helen, Peggy, Dianne, Adele, Chris and Pat. Catherine was adopted by her daughter's dog Hugo who will miss his new mistress dearly. Catherine was predeceased by her beloved husband John in 1991. She is survived by her children Kathyrn (Eugene) Perry; John (Nina) Mone; Kerry (Jeff) LaManna. She was the cherished grandmother of Kevin, Patrick, Katie, Christopher, Daniel and Eva. She is also survived by her loving sister Betty Ann Cocchia. Family and friends were received at Roma Funeral Home in Shirley. Wake prayers were conducted by Msgr. John Heinlein of St Jude's RC Church. Interment took place at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton.
