Bob was born in Ashland, on July 30, 1940, to Henry and Betty (Sheets) Boughter, and had been a resident of Ashland all his life. He was a graduate of Ashland High School.
He had worked as a journeyman maintenance person and had been employed at Hyco/Dana. Corp for many years and retired from Kingston of Ashland.
Bob was a lifetime member of Ashland County Wildlife Conservation League; he also was a member of National Rifle Association and Ashland Eagles Lodge 2178. He was a volunteer firefighter/EMT for the city of Ashland, retiring with more than 30 years of service. An avid hunter and fisherman he also enjoyed woodworking, photography, repairing things, raising hunting dogs and dogs in general and was known as a good storyteller. Bob also enjoyed playing slow pitch softball and played for the Hyco Corp. team in Ashland.
On Dec. 12, 1959, Bob married Virginia M. Mehler, who preceded him in death Dec. 12, 2009.
He is survived by one daughter, Sheryl (Steve) Edwards of Ashland; two sons, David (Billie) Boughter of Ashland and Steve (Sharon) Boughter of Lexington; and seven grandchildren, Steven Edwards, Misty Edwards, Robert H. Boughter, Sarah Boughter, Zachary (Lisha) Lewis, Army Sgt. William (Alexandria) Vaughn and Steven Sikora. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Madison Spreng and Charlie Vaughn; and one sister, Joyce Carter of West Salem.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Virginia M. Boughter; one daughter, Debbie Shearer; and one brother, James Boughter.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2011, at Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011, at the funeral home.
