Mary L. , 85, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away September 7, 2003 after a long illness.

She was born October 6, 1917 in Waxahachie, Texas to William and Jessie Garner. Mrs. Maxwell was a homemaker and a member of South Church of Christ. She was dedicated to her family and was a great wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Preceding her in death are her parents; brothers, Walton and Joe Garner and her sisters, Gladys Farley, Sybil Wise and Pat Blackwell.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, John F. Maxwell, Sr. of Corpus Christi; her son, John (Karen) Maxwell, Jr. of Corpus Christi; her daughter, Jan (Bob) Kraner of Spring, Texas; five grandchildren, Marc Maxwell of Houston, Texas, Mary Beth (Charlton) Taylor of Abilene, Texas, Jana (Mark) Edwards of Ashland City, Tennessee, Rob (Courtney) Kraner of McKinney, Texas and Cliff (Dena) Kraner of Spring; eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Visitation with the family present will be from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 9, 2003 in Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 10, 2003 in South Church of Christ with Dr. Dan Morris officiating.

Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Marc Maxwell, Rob and Cliff Kraner, Cal Jennings, Eric Larson and Robert Maxwell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Buzz Maxwell, Charlton Taylor, Fred Hamil and Mark Edwards.
