Amancio "Pete" Cano, 69, of Markham died Oct. 24, 2002 at Methodist Hospital in Houston. He was born April 8, 1933 in Mercedes, Texas to the late Alfonso and Gregoria Cano. Mr. Cano was a resident of Markham since 1963, a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He owned and operated Pete's Paint and Body Shop in Markham.

Survivors include: wife, Guadalupe Alaniz Cano of Markham; children, Daniel Cano of Sealy, Tina LeFevre and husband Jack of Spring, Barbara Medina and husband Beto of Liberty, Margaret Adsit and husband Dwight of Spring, Bill Cano and wife Anna of Baytown and Cathy Cano of Portland, Oregon; brothers, Severo and Jose Cano, Amelia Villanuera, Reyes C. Pena and Alfonso Cano Jr. all of Mercedes; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Mike Cano and sister Lupe Mora.

A rosary service was held at 8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, and the funeral mass will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerard Cernock officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck.

Pallbearers will be Joe Guajardo, William Parks, Dwight Varna, Jerry Fettinger, Albert Garcia and Pete Sardelich. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons and Tino Torres.

Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.
