Robert A. Kimm, Esq, Solon, formerly of Marion, left his earthly body for his heavenly body on Wednesday, September 18, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a long, hard-fought seven-year battle with multiple myeloma. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his death. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at First Baptist Church, Marion, by the Rev. Randy Bobzien. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion, with military honors provided by American Legion Post 298, Marion.

Bob was born Jan. 14, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, to Nadine June (Hicks) Kimm and Arnold Robert Kimm. He graduated from Marion High School in 1962 and from the University of Iowa Law School in 1973 (with honors). Bob was in the security service in the United States Air Force, 1965-1970, being stationed in Mississippi, Taiwan, Texas and the National Security Agency in Maryland. Bob was an assistant Linn County Attorney for many years and had been in private practice from 1973 until his time of death.

Bob is survived by his wife of 42 years. On Dec. 26, 1965, he and Charlee Ann Barber were married at the First Baptist Church of Marion. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Danielle (Jeff) Bailey, and Nicole (Steve) Toy, his mother-in-law, Connie Short, and father-in-law, Yvonne (Lucille) Barber, his grandchildren, Carson, Gabrielle, Maxwell and Arianna Bailey and Brodey and Braxton Toy; his brother Gary (Sheri) Kimm, brother-in-law, Jim Barber, and two nieces, Cathy (Jamie) Krall and children and Heather (Dave) Dahl and children. He is survived by several cousins, with whom he enjoyed spending time.

He was predeceased by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; and father-in-law, William Short.

Bob will be remembered as a believer in Christ, an honest man and a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
