Mrs. William Steckelberg died suddenly of heart disease at her home in this village May 15, 1911, at the age of 59 years, 11 months and 24 days. Mrs. Anna F. D. Steckelberg was the oldest daughter of Fritz Muehlenbruch and Friedericke Pierstorff, (both deceased) and was born May 21, 1851 at Beidendorf, Mecklenburg Schwerin, Germany, came with her parents in 1852 to America, and settled in Middleton. Her mother died when she was twelve years old and she had to keep house and care for the family. On the 18th day of October, 1874 she married William Steckelberg and they resided on a farm in the town of Middleton, and later in the town of Verona. About three years ago they moved to this village and were held in high esteem by their relatives, neighbors and friends of which they have a large number. Mrs. Steckelberg was a quiet home-loving woman, devoted to her husband and children who will sadly miss her. Deceased leaves her husband, five daughters, Mrs. L. Dewey, Mrs. G. B. Pierstorff, Mrs. Edward Schroeder, Mrs. John Albrecht and Mrs. Clarence Rowley; two sons, Fred and William Steckelberg of this village, two sisters, two brothers and six grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. F. Scherbel at the residence and at the St. Lucas chruch Wednesday and the remains were laid to rest in the Junction Cemetery.
