Constance "Connie" F. Smizer, 81, of Southington, passed away peacefully at her home on June 21, 2011. She was the wife of the late Raymond G. Smizer for 57 years. Connie was born in New Britain and was the daughter of the late Antonio and Concetta (Faraci) Mazzarella. Connie was a longtime Southington resident. In her earlier years she was employed at General Electric Credit. Her family was her life and as her children grew up she served as a Cub Scout den mother and was also the president of the PTA. She was a member of St. Dominic's parish, and the Southington AARP. She loved spending time with her beloved granddaughters. Connie's other passions included cooking, crocheting and sewing, but she would drop them all to watch her beloved Red Sox play. The love Connie gave to her family will be with them forever, and they are comforted knowing that she is spending eternity "jitterbugging" with her beloved husband, Ray. She leaves her four loving children, Raymond A. Smizer and his wife, Susan, of Plainville, Gregory Smizer and his wife, Janet, of Waltham, Mass., Debbie Root and Carl Dube of Farmington and Karl Smizer of Waterford; along with her six granddaughters, Kendra, Nicole, Lauren, Alison, Emily and Perry. She also leaves her brother, Anthony Mazzarella of Southington; many nieces and nephews; and her longtime best friend, Marie DiMugno of Kensington. She was predeceased by her brother, Salvatore Mazzarella, and her son-in-law, David Root. Constance "Connie" F. Smizer, 81, of Southington, passed away peacefully at her home on June 21, 2011.
