Leo Hagemeister, 76, Fargo, ND died on Friday, August 8, 2008 at Manor Care Health Services in Fargo. Leo Martin Hagemeister was born on October 13, 1931 in Fargo, ND to John and Bonnie (Davis) Hagemeister. He grew up near Argusville and attended school there. He worked on the family farm before being united in marriage to June Hestbeck on January 25, 1951 in Fargo. Leo enlisted in the Air National Guard in 1951 and later activated with the Air Force. He was stationed in Valdosta, GA and Victorville, CA. They returned to North Dakota and lived at Ayr, ND where they farmed. They moved to Argusville, ND in 1971. Leo worked at NDSU for nearly 30 years at the animal science unit. He entered Manor Care earlier this year.

Leo enjoyed the outdoors, camping at the lakes, gardening, bird watching and going to auction sales. He also spent much time collecting toys.

He is survived by his wife, June; three children and their families: son, Dean (Joyce) Hagemeister of West Fargo, their children, Brandon (Angie) Hagemeister of Fargo, Kerry (Carl) Sad of Cooperstown, ND, Bobbi Hagemeister of West Fargo, and Joyce's sons Troy and Chad Johnson; daughter, Donna (Joe) Pfeifer of Sioux Falls, SD and their son, Andrew Pfeifer of Lincoln, NE; daughter, Denise (Marlin) Melander of Sioux Falls and their children, Jenny Melander and Sam Melander both of Kansas City, MO; three great grandchildren, Emma Hagemeister, Jordan Johnson and Andrew Bodin; brother, Vernon (Ruth) Hagemeister of Fargo; brother-in-law, Dallas Lehman of Argusville; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, infant twin Cleo and Cecelia Lehman.

Visitation: Sunday, August 10, 2008 from 2 to 4 PM with a prayer service at 4 PM at the West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND. Funeral: Monday at 11 AM at West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo with visitation one hour before. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
