The obituary for Mary Ella McMullan Park stated that she was 102 years of age and that the services were held on Tuesday morning from the Hillsboro Baptist Church. She was affectionately known as "Granny" and was the oldest member of the church having joined in 1890. She moved from Newton county to Scott county over 75 years before her death. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bernice Bagley.
In March she was one of the several members of the Hillsboro church honored for over 50 years of active membership but was unable to attend and her certificated was accepted by a relative.
She also had a daughter other than Mr. Bagley, Mrs. Verna Carpenter of Hillsboro. She had 17 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. This obituary appeared in The Scott County Times V26, pg. 1 Wednesday 04 August 1965.
