Janette Pauline Popp Wishert, 76, of El Campo, passed away April 25, 2018. She was born on October 28, 1941 in Hillje, TX to the late August J. and Pauline Pauler Popp. She was a housewife, mother, retired baker and cafeteria worker. She was fondly known as ‘the cake lady.’

She is survived by her children, Robert Lee Wishert and wife Barbara, John Lee Wishert and wife Carol, Cindy Ann Priesmeyer and husband Donald, Connie Sue Schertz and husband Allen, Janet Lee Perks and husband Adam and Shirley Ann Wishert, all of El Campo; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Albina Taylor and Gladys Bodungen, of El Campo; brother, Gus Popp and wife Janie Mae of Nada and sister-in-law, Henrietta Popp of Nada.

Janette was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leon E. Wishert; grandson, Leon R. Wishert; brother, Alvin J. Popp; sister and brother-in-law, Bernice Agnes Wishert and Oliver V. Wishert; nephew, Dan Ray Wishert and nieces, Lynda Kay Wishert and Doris Jean Pfeil.

Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Friday, April 27 at Triska Funeral Home and from 6-7 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Taiton with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass begins 10 a.m. Saturday, April 28 at St. John’s Catholic Church with Rev. Gabriel Oduro Tawiah officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robert Colten Wishert, Zachary Wishert, Chase Schertz, Koty Graham, Joshua Graham, Brandon Sherrill, Tyson Sherrill, Matthew Henderson, Chris Garcia and Jr. Tompkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Becky and Doug Koudela, Chris and Sandy Wishert, Brenda and Scooter Tompkins, Doug and Kim Wishert and Paula and Ricky Clark.
