Christine was the youngest daughter and child nine of Jens Jensen Fonnesbech and Ane Margrethe Pedersen. She was born in Overby, Ringkobing, Denmark.

Both she and her mother followed her brother, Jens Christian, to the United States and Utah in April of 1884 after they were converted to the Mormon faith.

In August 1884, while visiting with her sister, Ane Marie, in Salt Lake City, she fell ill (there was an outbreak of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever) and died. She had been here barely four months. She was buried in Salt Lake City on August 11, 1884.

Siblings:

1. Martinus (Einer) Jensen Fonnesbech/k 1844-1918 (my great-grandfather)
2. Johann Peder (John Peter) Jensen Fonnesbech/k 1846-1929
3. Jens Christian Fonnesbech 1848-1858 buried in Denmark
4. Maren Jensen Fonnesbech 1850-1875 did not marry
5. Ane Marie Jensen Fonnesbech/k Pedersen Jensen 1852-1923
6. Christen Jensen Fonnesbech 1854-1910 stayed in Denmark
7. Troels Jensen Fonnesbech/k 1856-1939 emigrated to Australia

9/29/2011--Telecon with Salt Lake City Cemetery regarding Christine's site: the 'K' section was the paupers' burial area--it is no longer being used, but all who are buried there will not be removed. They are 'safe' in their sleep. There are no markers unless placed there close to time of death. However, one could still place a memorial marker for someone who is buried there. The 'K' section is located on the east side of Center Street (in the cemetery grounds) between 310 N and 330 N. My thanks to Kim at the cemetery for this information.

Gravesite Details

Over the years several family members have attempted to find the exact site of her grave in order to transfer her to Logan, but the reference area is so large. Unable--we have not given up yet!
