Gilbert Livingston Thompson son of Smith and Eliza Thompson was born 20 June 1796 in Poughkeepsie and died on 4 July 1874. His first wife was Arietta Minthorne Tompkins (1800-1837), daughter of Daniel Delavin Tompkins and Hannah (Minthorne). His second wife was Mary Ann Tolley Dorsey (1815-1877), daughter of Thomas Beal and Milcah (Goodwin) Dorsey. He had eight children by his first wife and six by the second. They were: Arietta, married William Seton Henry; Smith, married Mary Ann Clagette; Daniel, unmarried; Augusta married James J. Dickens; Mangle Minthorne, married Silvie L. Wotton; Katherine, married Willis Hines; Gilbertine, married William Van Zandt; Sarah married Charles Perkins; Dorsey, married first Mary Worthington Ligon and second, Prudence Rogers; Gilbert married Miss Ellis; Edward Livingston married Mary Elliott Johnstone; Robert married Isabelle Munce; Rebecca Goodwin married John Gough Rogers, and Elisa. Robert Hoe of Poughkeepsie is a descendant of Edward and Mary (Johnstone) Thompson.
