Death of H.S. Ghent
Harvey Spencer Ghent, aged 82 years died at his home on Brooklyn Ave., Friday about one o'clock, after an illness of several days duration. Mr. Spencer was a life long resident of Lancaster County and a member of the Beaver Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted from the Douglas Presbyterian Church by Rev. H.P. Bennett, Saturday afternoon. Interment being in the Douglas Church cemetery.
He was survived by the following children: Mrs. Mack Ghent, Fort Mill; W.J. Ghent, Jud Ghent, John Ghent, Mrs. Edd Mackey, Mrs. Walter Blackmon, and Hazel Ghent of Lancaster; Henry Ghent, Rock Hill; Jeff Ghent, Misses Jennie and Elloree Ghent of Lancaster.

Lancaster Home Swept by Blaze
Lancaster, SC - Feb 25 - An early morning fire of unknown origin destroyed the home here of Spence Ghent on West Arch Street. The roof was a mass of flames and about to cave in when the fire was discovered. Hazel Ghent was burned about the hands and arms in attempting to remove belongings from the blazing home.
