Lebanon — Bennie Hesler, 94, of Lebanon, and formerly of Montezuma, died Thursday, June 30, 2011, in Witham Health Services, Lebanon.
He was born June 25, 1917, in Montezuma, to the now late Harry Roscoe Hesler and Susie Eleanor Pruitt Hesler. His wife of 57 years, Nadene Joslin Hesler whom he married June 28, 1941, in Covington, died Oct. 28, 1998.
He was a retired farmer. He was a 1935 graduate of Mecca High School. He was a member of the Linebarger United Methodist Church, a charter member and past exulted ruler of Rockville Elk's Lodge No. 2471. He was an avid golfer, loved to 'coon and fox hunt, loved to fish in his younger years, loved Chicago Cubs baseball and Indiana University basketball.
Survivors include one son, Denny M. (Judith) Hesler of Lebanon; two grandchildren, Brock (Lisa) Hesler and Pamela (Craig) Howe both of Lebanon; five great-grandchildren, Cameron, Kenzie and Kailie Howe, Katlyn Coddington and Blake Hesler; and several nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by two daughters, Judy Hesler in 1991 and Susan Diane Hesler in 2007; two brothers, Harry Ray Hesler and George Hesler; two sisters, Mildred Bugg Boomershine and Barbara Slack Hausman.
Visitation is from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard St. in Rockville. Services will immediately follow, the Rev. Leon Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery at Montezuma.
