Mass of Christian burial for Janice A. Jacobi, 72, Fond du Lac, Wis., was held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, at St. Mary Church Fond du Lac. She died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at St. Francis Home.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at Calvary Cemetery, Marengo. A reception will follow at the Doose Cafe, Marengo.

Memorials may be made to the Janice Jacobi Memorial Scholarship Fund, Fond du Lac Public School System, 72 W. 9th St., Fond du Lac, Wis. 54935.

Zacherl Funeral Home, Fond du Lac, was in charge of arrangements.

Janice Ann Jacobi was born July 22, 1937, in Marengo, the daughter of Carroll and Rita Flanagan Jacobi. She graduated from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, with a bachelor of music degree. For 45 years she was employed by the Fond du Lac Public School System as an elementary band teacher.

She was a member of Holy Family Parish and was active in the St. Mary Church Hope Funeral Choir. She belonged to many organizations, including Alpha Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, International Honor Society of Women Educators, Fond du Lac Retired Educators, national Education Association, Wisconsin Music Teachers' Association, Wisconsin Symphonic Band, Oshkosh Symphony Orchestra and the Fond du Lac Symphonic Band. In addition, she also volunteered at Evans School, Chegwin School and Big Brothers and Sisters.

Jacobi is survived by two sisters and their husbands, Carol Jean and Wendell Kahler, Jacksonville, Texas, and Clare and Jack Carns, Galesburg, Ill.; nieces and nephews and their spouses, Mark Carns, Greg and Michelle Carns, Melinda and Todd Hull, Joe Kahler, Jeff and Christine Kahler, Lori and Jerry McGuire and Kurt Kahler, and other relatives and many friends.
