Stephen was born on November 15, 1932 in Portland, OR to Alfred and Clairice Vida (Baker) Kindel. He was raised in the Portland area. He was one of eight children.
He joined the US Army in 1950 and served his country during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954 as a Private 2nd Class. Stephen was very proud of his military service and spoke highly of all military service men and women including his brothers and nephew.
Stephen had worked most of his life as a long haul truck driver. He retired in 2000.
Among some of his interest he enjoyed knife making, hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He was an artist and enjoyed painting and drawing nature scenes. His most cherished moments in his life were being with his family and gathering with his friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; John and Don Kindel and his son Richard.
Survivors include his daughter; Stephani Wardlaw of Spokane, WA, five siblings; Dolores Boquist of Tillamook, OR, Arthur Kindel of Banks, OR, Robert Kindel of Gresham, OR, Bonnie McMellon of Hillsboro, OR, Patty Gattis of North Carolina in addition to multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, neices and great nephews, neices and close friends.
Stephen will be greatly missed by everyone whom surrounded him on a daily basis, he was a wonderful, caring man who could put a smile any anyones face.
We love you Uncle Steve, Big Steve, Steve Dad, Bro, Dad, Grandpa. You will never be forgotten.
