FARIBAULT -- Robert "Bob" Bongers, age 78, of Faribault, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2006 at Infinia of Faribault Care Center.Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, at St. Lawrence in Faribault. Interment will be held at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault.Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. The Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagles will conduct a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. on Monday evening.The family prefers that memorials be directed to Faribault Area Hospice or the donor's choice.Robert Martin Bongers, the son of Martin and Emily (Pumper) Bongers, was born on Nov. 3, 1927 in Faribault. On July 30, 1945 he was united in marriage to Rosemary Kalien at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. Mrs. Bongers preceded him in death on Dec. 5, 2003. Bob was a truck driver for 35 years for different trucking firms including, Monson Drey Line and Murphy Motor Freight. He also farmed while trucking. In retirement he worked at Kmart and at Hardee's, both in Faribault. Bob enjoyed bowling, woodworking, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Knights of Columbus Council 889 in Faribault.He is survived by five children, Richard (and Darlene) Bongers of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Art (and Penny) Bongers of Pelican Rapids, Minn., Donna (and Russell) Bauer of Faribault, Dave (and Kim) Bongers of Victoria, Texas, and Luverne (and Lila) Bongers of Faribault; by 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; by a brother, Bernard (and Mary) Bongers of Faribault; by a sister-in-law, Gail Bongers of Faribault and other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers, Marvin, Donald and Joseph Bongers; and by a sister-in-law, Pat Bongers.
