CHAMPION – Violet Rose Marie Novak, 79, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011, at St. Joseph Health Center.
She was born Sept. 16, 1931, in Warren, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Kassan Nicklas.
Violet is survived by her husband of 58 years, William J. Novak Sr. and her son, William J. Novak Jr., both of Champion.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy.
Violet was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Warren. She was also a member and past president of the Church's Ladies Guild and St. Benedict's Auxiliary. A devoted homemaker, Violet also loved to play bingo and donated her time to various church projects.
A self-taught seamstress, Violet spent several years sewing Ecclesiastical Vestments for area Orthodox and Byzantine Catholic churches. She also personally made all of the classroom draperies for the then Sts. Peter and Paul School.
Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park.
