Mrs. Emma M. Joachim Fruth, 91, of 202 Clendenin St., a resident of Charleston for more than 50 years, died Saturday morning at her home after an illness of two weeks. She was the widow of Val Fruth, a grocery store operator, who died in 1934.
The body is at Barlow mortuary pending completion of funeral arrangements.
A native of Pomeroy, O., she was born Oct. 25, 1859; daughter of the late George V. and Elizabeth Rasp Joachim. After her marriage in 1883, she came to Charleston 16 years later.
Active in Lutheran church work, Mrs. Fruth was a charter member of both the St. Paul's church and the Trinity church and held membership in the latter church at the time of her death.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Glenn R. Edgar; one son, Elbert A. Fruth; a sister, Miss Catherine E. Joachim and three grandchildren, Mrs. W. E. Whirteman, Mrs. Arlin Voreas and Miss Barbara Ann Edgar and a great-grandchild, W. E. Whitreman III, all of Charleston.
