BAXTER -- Funeral services for Ralph Arnold Maxwell Sr., 88, of Baxter, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 7, in the Baxter chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Maxwell Cemetery North.
Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 6, and again Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
Mr. Maxwell died Tuesday morning, July 5, 2011, at Alvin C. York VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro.
He was born Jan. 5, 1923, in Putnam County to the late Virgil P. and Etta Roberts Maxwell.
Mr. Maxwell was a member of Baxter First Baptist Church, where he served as a song leader. He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a Purple Heart recipient. He was a retired carpenter and farmer.
His family includes his wife of 64 years, Margaret Allison Maxwell of Baxter (whom he married May 20, 1947); two sons, Ralph Arnold Maxwell Jr. of Kentucky and Jeff Maxwell of Baxter; two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Charles Dalton, Lisa and Troy Parks, all of Baxter; and 10 grandchildren, Buddy Dalton and wife Renata, Jenny Stites and husband Josh, Brent Dalton, Jesse Dalton and wife Kelly, Arnie and Jonathan Maxwell, and Karissa, Kenzie, Alexis and Autumn Dyer.
