Funeral services for Ernest Oberhoff, 82, of Houston will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 22 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg with interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Rev. David Snowden will officiate the services. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21 in the Stateroom of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd. (FM 2218 and Highway 59) in Rosenberg.

Ernst "Ernie" was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his family, the Astros and baseball, fishing, playing cards and dominoes. He will be greatly missed by his family and his multitude of friends. He leaves behind many cherished memories.

He was born June 8, 1916 in Needville to Fritz Oberhoff and Selma Tielke Oberhoff, and he passed away Oct. 20, 1998 in Houston. He was a warehouse manager for Steel Distributors in Houston for 20 years. He was a resident of Holly Hall Retirement Home.

Ernest served his country in World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 350 in Needville. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in downtown Houston.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fritz and Selma Oberhoff and a brother, Edwin Oberhoff.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eddie Ruth; a son, Dr. Kenneth Oberhoff and wife, Wanda; a daughter, Sharon White and her husband, Larry; grandchildren, Alan Oberhoff and wife, Beverly, Jenny Gaston and husband Captain Tom Gaston, Marcus Butler, and Elizabeth Butler; great-grandchild, Alan Oberhoff Jr.; brothers, Erich Oberhoff and his wife, Anita, Albin Oberhoff and his wife, Ruby Lee, Ervin Oberhoff and wife, Evelyn, Henry Lee Oberhoff and wife, Lenora, Nelson Oberhoff and wife, Ann, and Gilbert Oberhoff and wife, Effie; and a sister-in-law, Esther Oberhoff.

Pallbearers are Marcus Butler, Alan Oberhoff, Charles Banker, Gerald Dowdy, Ray Allen Oberhoff and Elwood Oberhoff. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Roger Gammon and Paul Peterson P.A. of Austin, Dr. Eric Reiner of Houston and members of American Legion Post 350 of Needville.

The family requests that donations be made to the charity of one's choice.
