Keith Allen Hastad was born on March 21, 1952 to parents Johnnie and Delores (Weber) Hastad in Madison, Minn. Keith was baptized and confirmed at Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church. He attended school in Madison and graduated in 1970. He furthered his education by attending Concordia College and graduated in 1974. After college, Keith worked for Hogenson Construction of Dawson, Minn., where he helped in building the flour mill. He then worked at Fieldcrest Fertilizer before he started farming. Death came to Keith at his farm due to a farm accident. He had reached the age of 58 years, 4 months and 11 days.
In life, Keith played softball in his younger years and later enjoyed skiing, traveling, gardening, was avid sports fan, boating, and loved going to his cabin at Shallow Lake near Warba, Minn. He also enjoyed music, was a great cook and was very dedicated and loving toward his mother, brother, sister, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.
Keith was preceded in death by his father Johnnie Hastad and nephew Tony Hastad.
He is survived by his mother Delores Hastad, of Madison, Minn., his sister Mary Ann (Craig) Ellingboe of Northfield, Minn. and his brother Gary Hastad of Madison, Minn.; nieces and nephews Nicole Teske of Northfield, Minn., Hollis Reed of Northfield, Minn., Kari Ellingboe of Northfield, Minn., Amanda Thompson of Willmar, Minn., Greg Hastad of Marshall, Minn., Erik Hastad of Madison, Minn. and three great-nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Kirk Meseck and Rev. Craig Ellingboe officiating at the service. Special music was provided by Linda Anderson, organist and Gary Boraas and Rev. Kirk Meseck, soloist. Active casket bearers included: Kyle Weber, Paul Weber, Mark Hastad, Duane Hastad, Gale Torstenson, Paul Nygaard, Tim Halvorson, Mike Avelsgaard, Tom Avelsgaard, and Craig Wilkening. Interment was in the Minnesota Valley Lutheran Cemetery of Louisburg, Minn.
