Richard was born in Lewistown and lived there all of his life.
He enlisted in the Marines 10 September 1966. Arriving in Vietnam 17 April 1967 and was assigned to the Weapons Platoon, H&S Company,2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.
Richard died as a result of fragmentation wounds to the head and body from a premature explosion of a mortar round during a firing mission.
Richard was single.
Survived by his step-father and mother; Floyd & Edith Knerr of Lewistown, his father; Ralph Kucera of Darwin, CA and his uncle; Russell Kucera of Hilger,MT.
