Elaine Harrington
Dies in Accident
Elaine Harrington died instantly of injuries received in an automobile accident near Denver, Colo. on Friday, August 19, as she was returning to her job after attending the Northwest Kansas District Fair in Goodland, and visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Harrington.
Elaine Ruth Harrington was born on the 22nd day of January 1940, in Goodland, Kans., and departed this life on August 19, 1960 in Cook County, Colo.
She attended Warren School District 41 for the first eight years of her schooling, graduating from Sherman Community High School in May of 1958. She attended Barnes School of Commerce in Denver, and was employed there until March of 1960, at which time she returned to Goodland, where she was employed at Davis Implement Co., until July 25, 1960. She returned to Denver to be re-instated as a Civil service employee with the Postal Department.
Her passing will leave a void that will be unfilled by her cheerful and friendly, "Hi!" She will long be remembered in her passing greeting, "Be Seeinin' Ya."
She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, all of whom died in infancy. Among those who deeply mourn her passing are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Harrington, two brothers, Laddie and Ted, both of Denver, Colo., one brother-in-law, Dudley Shaw of Tucumcari N.M., and one niece and one nephew, James and Donita Shaw of Tucumcari, N.M. and a host of other relatives and friends.
Final rites were held at the First Christian Church, 11th and on August 23, 1960, with the Rev. Leof M. Hayes of Amy, Kans., assisted by Durward Penry of Goodland, officiating. Interment was in the family plot at the Goodland Cemetery with the Sage Funeral Home in charge of services.
Let Brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Hebrews 13: 1-2.
