Mildred Roeder Burkart, 76, passed away Aug. 5, 1998, at home after a long illness.
Mrs. Burkart was born and raised in Paterson, N.J., but had resided in Virginia Beach for the past 24 years. She was involved in many charitable activities including support of Native Americans and the Old Coast Guard Station in Virginia Beach.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Joseph; four sons, Joseph and his wife, Susan, of New York, Jack and his wife, Marianne, of Great Falls, Va., and their two daughters, Nicole and Delaney, Peter of Virginia Beach and Christopher and his wife, Lisa, of Virginia Beach; as well as two brothers, Jack Roeder of Albuquerque, N.M., and Emil Roeder of New Port Richey, Fla.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, followed immediately by a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Old Coast Guard Station at Virginia Beach.
