Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident, John Leo Brockhaus are set for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Shawnee. Brockhaus died April 7, 2003, at the age of 77 in the Ambassador Manor Nursing Home in Tulsa. He was born on April 19, 1925 in Yukon Oklahoma to Franklin Brockhaus and Magdalena (Walch) Brockhaus. He married Anna J. (Bryant) on April 23, 1948 in Midwest City. He was a farmer, rancher, and worked for Lee Way Freightliner. He was of Catholic faith. His parents, his wife, two brothers, Lawrence and Paul Brockhaus; and two sisters, Mary Matthews and Clara Cawthon preceded him in death. He is survived by three sons, and daughter-in-laws, Paul and Sherry Brockhaus of Tulsa, Lee and Sissy Brockhauss of Earlsboro, and Mike Brockhaus of Choctaw; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Kay Carter and Woody Woodward of Yuma, Ariz.; five grand children, J.R., Angelique and Bryan Joe Brockhaus, Allen Roads, Ann Jeanette Casad; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor and Justine Roads, Barrit and Bailey Casad, Caitlin and J.T. Brockhaus and Landen Degman. One sister, Elinor Hubbs of Enid, a lifelong friend, Dave Pratt of Hurst, Texas, and an extended family friend, Patsy Cline of Prague, also survive him. There will be a Rosary on Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. His body will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee on April 11 under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
