August Drumm of McCausland Dies At Age 85
August Z. Drumm, 85, died at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in his home in McCausland afater an
extended illness.
He was born Nov. 18, 1869, in Muscatine County and attended schools in Muscatine. He
married Anna Thoene, Jan. 31, 1894 in Blue Grass and the couple farmed in Montpelier
township, near Blue Grass, for several years. From 1909 to 1929 they lived on a farm
located three miles west of McCausland and in 1929 they retired and moved to McCausland
where they have since lived.
Survivors include his widow and Merle, Long Grove; a brother, Peter Drumm, West Liberty;
five grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. One daughter preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held in Hill & Fredericks Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The
Rev. Charles H. Stange, pastor of McCausland Methodist church will officiate. Burial
will be in Blue Grass cemetery.
