Harry was the son of John Kidd Jr and his wife Mary Caroline Carrie Lee Kidd. They immigrated to America by 1874 and made several trips between The US and England in the 1870s. Harry married Louise Salvas on the 13th of February 1896 in Wisconsin. (When Harry married, he converted to Catholicism. The name Joseph was added to his name. He rarely used the J, but is sometimes seen with the J as middle initial, there could be other examples, not known). Harry and Louise had eight children. In the 1900 census Harry and Louise are living in Green Bay he was a commercial salesman for a Green Bay Company. The last records seen for Harry are the 1920, where he is named at home in the US census and the only (that I have seen) city directory where he is listed as an individual by name is Green Bay 1927 city directory. Other directories after 1927 say Mrs Louise Kidd. Plus there are some newspaper mention of Mr and Mrs Harry Kidd in papers. In the 1930 census Harry is not home for the census but Louise states she is married. In the 1937 City Directory Louise states she is a widow. Countless counties in countless US states, records for Canada, England, Australia and New Zealand have been search. Where Harry went and his ultimate fate is unknown.
Harry's brother legally changed his surname to Winton in 1926. His 2nd cousin legally changed his name to Seton after his mother died in 1897. Both Winton and Seton are family names.

But once I began researching I could see in the records some kind of disappearence story was true, Harry does disappear. The other story was maybe he went “out west” and two of the boys (HH’s sons) went “looking for him” or “to see him”?
We are searching for Harry Hutton Kidd born 1870 Lancashire and disappeared from Green Bay, Wisconsin some time afterish 1927 or 1930ish. We have every record from his birth and christening through at least a City Directory that names him in 1927.
We thoroughly checked out the Harry Holden Kidd also of Wisconsin and there are the Harry Kidds – the sports writer, the Californian with Flora, the one who died crushed in Hoover Dam building accident. There is the Harry in Vancouver, one in Washington State and one who died in US but born in Canada. The Harry Kidd committed also has a life with another family and he can’t be him either. There is Larry Kidd who wound up listed as Harry in several newspaper articles, he did horse breeding and racing between Colorado and California but he was Lawrence aka Larry. There is also the Harry in Maryland, and the one in New Jersey.
And all seem to check out with easy to find “other” lives and can’t be our Harry. (Much thanks to cousin Meg and other volunteers over these decades of looking for Harry Hutton Kidd. I do not know the two who died in the UK, Quarter Jun 1930 Battersea, London or Mar 1940 Ampthill, Bedfordshire. Are these records public access?

Harry’s brother, Reginald Sherman Winton 1877 – 1952 artist who changed his name (PBC documents on file) from Kidd in 1926 was committed (documents on file) to Florida State Hospital in 1936 with his wife claiming Sherman had no family, when she knew he did. No known descendants. Sherman and his 2nd wife Flora lived in Lake Worth Palm Beach County. In 1923 reporter interviews Sherman and his assistant is Mr Smith and Sherman names his cousin Ernest Evan Thompson aka Ernest Thompson Seton. [The Kidd brothers maternal grandmother is named in the biography of Ernest Thompson Seton]

Harry’s father had sold book subscriptions after being lawyer didn’t make enough in USA between Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin they later moving back to New York and passing in Massachusetts, John and Mary Caroline Lee Kidd both with linked findagrave.
So as a commercial traveler and book and tobacco sale as Harry also did early 1927 city directory traveling; 1925 city directory salesman; 1920 traveling salesman; 1910 Commercial Traveler Tobacco; 1900 Salesman.
Harry’s 1st cousin once removed also changed his name, Ernest Evan Thompson became Ernest Thompson Seton. But I have not been able to learn if he turned up with Ernest at any time.
I have left DNA at all three American companies and wonder if he had another life maybe descendants will turn up and there are the others also. We have worked back to the siblings of John and Caroline and back down looking for him with more distant cousins. As, Charles Havelock Kidd back in the UK living in Wales by this time, found them, he did not go there that we can see. The Thompsons in Toronto did not see hide nor hair of him that anyone knew, and cousin James Hutton Kidd Sr and Jr who all moved to New Zealand have been found to what extant we can.
