John Bode was the son of Wilhelm Bode and his third wife, Emma Kalbow Bode.
Hermann Johannes Rudolph Bode was baptized July 23, 1876, by Pastor Heinrich Pfenninger at Eben Ezer Lutheran Church in Berlin, Washington County, Texas. His baptismal sponsors were Rudolph Kalbow, Hermann Schulz, and Miss Anna Pasemann. John Bode was confirmed April 13, 1890, in the school house in Zionsville, Texas, by Pastor C. Kniker of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Gay Hill, Washington County, Texas. John Bode's confirmation text was Solomon 6:2.
John never married, and he lies in an unmarked grave.
