An old friend of this newspaper, and of late years a neighbor of the writer, (H. F. Doolittle) died in her sleep some time Friday night. She was Mrs. Julia Rolson, 71, a resident of Ellsworth for 50 years.
Mrs. Rolson lived in upper rooms of the Wm. Meyer residence on South Chestnut St. The Meyers' were away on Saturday. When Mrs. Rolson did not make her usual appearance that day, neighbors so informed the Meyers' upon their return home in the evening. They investigated and found Mrs. Rolson dead. She apparently had passed away after retiring Friday night.
The former Julia O'Connell was born near Olivet Dec. 23, 1890, a daughter of Daniel and Ellen O'Connell. She attended Ellsworth High School and she graduated from the Globe Business College, St. Paul. Her marriage to Frank L. Rolson, prominent Ellsworth resident, was on Nov. 8, 1911. Frank died in 1951.
Surviving are three daughters - Mrs. Charles Dawson (Roberta) of River Falls, Mrs. John Cannon (Joyce) of Campbell, Minn., and Mrs. Gerald Hope (Audrey)of Arcadia, Cal.; 12 grandchildren and one great grandson. Three brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
Mrs. Rolson had only recently returned by plane from a visit with her daughter, Mrs. Hope, in Arcadia, Cal., and was , apparently, in her usual good health. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic church - and of the South Chestnut St. Birthday Club. Her friends were many, and she will be greatly missed.
Funeral services were conducted at 9:30 Wednesday morning from St. Francis' church with Fr. John Pritzl officiating. Interment was beside her husband in Maple Grove Cemetery.
