Ivan L. Bennett, 73, of Olney, died at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Burial will be in Dundas Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Full military rites will be performed at the gravesite.

Bennett was born Feb. 5, 1924, in Richland County, the son of Dewie and Mary (Dugan) Bennett. He married Helen Grove Sept. 6, 1944, in Tampa, Fla.

He was owner of Olney Greenhouse and Flower Shop, Bennett Flowers in Newton and he was a member of Mt. Gilead Church, VFW, American Legion, East Fork Bass Masters and Men's Bowling Association.

He was survived by his wife; two daughters, Sue Burgin and her husband, Warren, of Olney, and Sally Cherry and her husband, Wayne, of Mt. Vernon; one brother, Benny Bennett, of Miami, Fla.; two sisters, Wanda Bennett, of Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Ida Slater, of Olney; grandchildren, Robin Hout and her husband, Dennis, of Olney, Dee Burgin and his wife, Lisa, of Paris, and April and Bryn Ealey, of Mt. Vernon; two step-grandchildren, Jennifer and, Bryan Cherry, of Mt. Vernon; and one great-grandchild Hunter Hout, of Olney.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Kathy Ruth Bennett.
