Hobah Lodge No. 323
"SAMUEL CASSIDY [sic], a respected citizen of Spencer, was instantly killed on Saturday morning about nine o'clock, in the saw mill belonging to Ellis & Brother two miles west of town. He was head sawyer, and was engaged sawing fence posts and in order to prevent a flitch from breaking off, placed a hand-spike under it to hold it up as the carriage came back. The hand-spike caught against something and suddenly threw him backward upon the revolving saw, which struck him between the point of the right shoulder and neck, ranging diagonally downwards toward the left side, cutting him nearly in two, causing instant death." - Terre-Haute Weekly Express, Terre Haute, Vigo County, 13 April 1870
