Ruth Greer Miller, age 88, of 928 Little Creek Road, Todd, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at Watauga Medical Center.
Mrs. Miller was born April 27, 1923 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Albert and Rebecca Carlton Greer. She was a retired inspector for Shadowline in Boone, and a member of Mount Ephriam Baptist Church.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband, Clate Miller of the home; two daughters, Jean Hardy of Boone, and Cathy Kincaid and husband Tony of Todd; one son, Clate Miller, Jr. and wife Jean of Boone; two sisters, Gladys Gilbert and husband Bob of Boomer, and Melba Hayes of Boomer, and one half sister, Maude Clawson of Boone. She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne Wheeler and Carl Miller; two daughters, Jewel Miller and Patricia Miller; two sisters, Bernice Cox and Chloe Greer; four half-sisters, Maggie Greene, Lillie Triplett, Edna Hampton, and Ora Watson; three brothers, Bynum, Vaughn, and Virgil Greer, and one half-brother, Sherman Greer.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Greer Miller will be conducted Sunday afternoon, August 7, 2011, at 2:00 o'clock, at Proffit's Grove Baptist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 1:00 until 2:00 o'clock. Officiating will be Reverend Delmar James. Burial will follow in Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock, at Hampton Funeral Service.
