Lena Streit, 90, died Friday, April 23, 1986 in Wilbarger General Hospital in Vernon, Texas. She was born September 2, 1895 in Fayette County, Texas to the late Gus and Anna Schuette Kahl. She came to Wilbarger County in 1910. She married George Streit on February 13, 1913 in Vernon, Texas. She was a housewife and a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Lena was an excellent cook and seamstress. She was widely known for her homemade noodles and cinnamon rolls. Her home was always full of family and friends. Survivors include four sons, Homer and Ernest of Vernon, Texas; George of Electra, Texas and Robert of San Antonio, Texas; four daughters, Marguerite Rinefeldt of Fort Worth, Texas, Dorothy Wisdom of Thalia, Texas; Agnes Miller and Ruth Capps of Vernon; three sisters, Carrie Sanders of San Antonio; Hattie Sanders of Lubbock and Leona Hardison of Vernon; one brother, Lee Kahl of Bakersfield, California; 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in September 1976; one daughter, Annette McLean in 1975 and two grandsons, Van and Andrew Wisdom. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. at the Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gerald Thiele of the Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
