CASCADE, Iowa -- Margaret Ann Otting, 85, of Cascade, died at 5:35 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Cascade, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cascade. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where the Cascade American Legion Auxiliary service will be held at 3:30 p.m. and a wake service will be at 7:30 p.m.

Margaret Ann was born on July 6, 1926, in Cascade, daughter of John P. and Lena (Hosch) Kurt. She was a graduate of the former St. Mary's High School in Cascade.

She married Ralph Otting on Sept. 16, 1947, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cascade; he preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 2006.

Margaret was employed at Greenwood's Appliance, Mark's TV, and later at Little Angels Aquin Day Care.

She was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade, the Cascade American Legion Auxiliary and the Shady Rest Auxiliary.

Surviving are six children, Annette (Justin) Connolly, of Peosta, Phil (Sheila) Otting, Greg (Gloria) Otting, Linda (Joe) Schockemoehl, Barney (Suz) Otting and Leo and (Shelley) Otting, all of Cascade; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; seven siblings, Eleanor Burke, of Bernard, Joe Kurt, of Farley, Ambrose "Sam" Kurt and Herbert Kurt, both of Cascade, Carl (Shirley) Kurt, of Manchester, Melvin (Lavonne) Kurt, of Cascade, and Leon (Trudy) Kurt, of Cascade; and a brother-in-law, Bill Lehmann, of Epworth.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Anna Mae Lehmann and Mary Dolphin; and two brothers, Fredrick and Andrew Kurt.
