Peter A. Stark was born January 16, 1863, in East Gotland (Östergötland) District, Sweden and passed away December 7, 1952 at the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge at the age of 89 years, 10 months and 19 days.

He came to this country with his parents in 1868. They settled first in Swede Bend, Iowa. Later they moved to the vicinity of Boxholm.

He was united in marriage to Rosa Johnson in 1889. To this union 4 children were born, Swan, Alice,, Ernest and Virgil. Preceding him in death were his wife, Rosa, and his daughter, Alice.

Since 1900, he has been engaged in various business enterprises in and around Boxholm.

In 1902 Peter A. Stark joined the Methodist Church and was received into full membership in the church by C. J. Mellberg. He was a Mason.

He leaves to mourn his passing his sons, Swan of Boxholm, Ernest of Chicago, and Virgil of Beaver. He also leaves two brothers, John of Boxholm and Oscar of Dayton. Nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He leaves many relatives and friends in Boxholm.

Peter Stark or Pete as we came to know him, was a part of the Boxholm community. He came here when this was still prairie country, and he lived here during the years of depression and prosperity sharing in the communities ups and downs. He was a member of the early school board and also served on the town council of Boxholm.

His mind, clear as a bell, could relate as he did many of the early pioneer experiences, hardships, trials of which this generation knows very little about.

His generation, it can be said, blazed a trail for which you and I can be thankful for today.
