ECHO - Willis Ray Hursey,70, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2011, at Dubois Hospital in Alexandria, La.
He resided in Echo, La., but lived most of his life in Starks. Mr. Hursey was a United States Air Force Veteran working for the Department of Defense, in the mail service division in Germany.
He was also a former Calcasieu Parish Sheriffs Officer. Just recently he and his wife celebrated their 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary.
He is survived by his wife; Ursula Oster Hursey, three sons; Michael Hursey and wife Toni of Colfax La, Marcus Hursey and Christopher Hursey, and girlfriend Sharon Lemoine of Marksville, La, one daughter; Nicole Hursey of Germany, one brother; Curtis Sandifer of DeQuincy, three sisters; Laverne Says of Starks, Emma Smith of Fields, La, and Linda Ragle and husband Hebert of Longville, and four grandchildren; Kaysi Hursey, Rosemary Hursey, Shelby Decuir and Summer Johnson.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m on Wednesday August 17th, in the Hixson-Snider Chapel. The Rev. Lanny Gibson will officiate. Burial will be at Hyatt Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 p.m. til 10 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. till service at the funeral home.
