Daughter of Congressman John Brown & Rebecca Rowan Penington.

Wife of J. D. Deane.

She was murdered along with her sister (Mary Elizabeth Dunning) by a jealous lover of her sister's husband named Cordelia Botkin.

Cordelia, who lived in San Francisco, Ca., sent poisoned candy to Mary "Elizabeth" who shared it with Ida. They both died of arsenic poisoning days later.

Cordelia was found guilty of murder and lived her remaining days in San Quentin Prison.
