Ottoville, Apr. 14 -- Gerhard Otte, 78, businessman here, died in his home Wednesday after a heart attack. He was the oldest business merchant in Ottoville at the time of his death. He had operated a restaurant here for 50 years following the death of his father.
He was a trustee of Monterey-tp in Putnam-co for 11 years and was a precinct representative of the Democratic party in Ottoville.
Mr. Otte, son of Gerhard and Anne Otte, was born here Oct. 8, 1870. His marriage to Barbara Thithoff took place on Apr. 16, 1906.
Surviving besides his widow are the following children; Mrs. Marcille Burger, Lima; Mrs. Euleta Weber, Detroit; Mrs. Margaret Metzer, Dayton; Elviora, Betty and Mary Anne Otte, at home; Gerhard, Jr., and Henry, both of Ottoville. A sister, Mrs. Eilziabeth Rekart, of here and two brothers, William and Leo, also survive.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Immaculate Conception church with Rev. Henry Gerwert, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. The body was removed to the residence from the Kolkmeyer funeral home, Delphos, Wednesday evening.
