Carl S. Dunbar, 81, 2599 Kings Mill Drive, passed away at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Born April 21, 1922, in Prospect, he was the son of the late John I. and Lydia (Phelps) Dunbar. On May 21, 1949, he married Esther (Messenger) Dunbar; she survives in Marion. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was owner of Dunbar Jeweler. He was a master jeweler, fine craftsman and refinished many antiques. He loved to garden and drive in the country especially small towns in Ohio and New York state. Carl was a loving son, father, husband and grandfather. He is also survived by two sons, Timothy (Sandy) Dunbar, Albuquerque, N.M., John (Debbie) Dunbar, Marion; two daughters, Terrie (Jeff) Fredrickson, Marion, Susan (Jake) Dunbar Blum, Norwich, Vt.; brother, Dr. Marion Dunbar, Marion; a sister, Jeannette Meister, Marion; 11 grandchildren, Jackson, Sarah, Katrina and Joseph Blum, Kelli and Annie Dunbar, Maggie and Alex Fredrickson, Trevor and Max Dunbar, Adrian Grenier and one great-grandchild, Silas Blum. A celebration of life service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors with Jeff Fredrickson officiating. Burial is in Marion Cemetery. Public visitation will not be held.
