Jerry L. Cook, age 79, of Ennoble Manor Care Center, Dubuque, formerly of Dubuque, passed away peacefully at 9:05 a.m. Sunday, March 8, 2009, at the care center.
Private family services will be held Wednesday in Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery.
Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
Jerry was born on January 11, 1930, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Edward F. and Merle L. (Stant) Cook.
Jerry attended school in Dubuque and Cassville, Wis. Jerry married LaVonne Keehner in 1951 in Maquoketa, Iowa. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1954 during the Korean Conflict and served in Germany until his discharge in 1956. After his discharge from the Army, Jerry went to work at John Deere Dubuque Works, retiring as a fabricator in experimental in 1987. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his machine shop.
Survivors: his wife, LaVonne Cook, of Dubuque;
daughter, Jeanne (Brian) Loeffelholz, of Dubuque;
sons, Jeff (Kelle) Cook, of Boone, Iowa,
Jim (June) Cook, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa;
seven grandchildren, Gary, Garrett, Nicole, Travis, Amanda, Katie and Cole;
a sister, Irene Brade, of Dubuque.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Iva Abresch and Vie Wedo, three brothers, James Cook, and two brothers in infancy.
A Jerry L. Cook Memorial Fund has been established.
