William Henry Woodward, 88, passed away August 25, 2011 at his home in Moss Bluff, LA.

Mr. Woodward graduated from Tulane University with a degree in architecture. He had a boundless passion for woodwork, gardening, family genealogy, and history such as WWI and WWII. He was a Veteran of WWII where he served in the Army Air Corp. He was a deacon emeritus at First Baptist Church of Lake Charles. Mr. Woodward taught Sunday school to teenagers and adults while also teaching a youth training union class. He served on the historical committee at First Baptist Church Lake Charles where he was a lifetime member.
Mr. Woodward is survived by his wife, Mrs. Barbara Steen Woodward of Moss Bluff, LA; son, William Craig Woodward of Moss Bluff; daughters, Mrs. Debbie Holifield and husband Bill of Livingston, LA., Mrs. Donyce Floyd and husband John of Sulphur, LA., Mrs. Sally Rosenbohm and husband Cliff of Newberg, OR., 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Preston Woodward and Willie Canton; brother, Thomas Benton Woodward; and sister, Mona Loy Medford.
His funeral service will be 2PM Monday, August 29, 2011 at First Baptist Church Lake Charles. Rev. Bill Holifield and Dr. John White will officiate. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2PM until 6PM Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Words of comfort may be expressed with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
