Anton Willenborg a life long resident of Effingham, Illinois, passed away at the family home about 6:30 o'clock Tuesday evening, October 11th, 1938, after a four week's illness due to a paralytic stroke suffered a month ago.

Mr Willenborg, a prominent business man of Effingham, Illinois for over forty years, was born on a farm north of Effingham, Illinois, Dec. 26, 1860, the son of Mr and Mrs. H. H. Willenborg, deceased. In 1883 he was united in marriage to Miss Josephine Bushue at Effingham, Illinois.

As a young man he clerked in the Barney Hoedebecke shoe store on Jefferson Street in Effingham, Illinois, and also worked at the shoemaker trade. After a few years he bought out the business from Mr. Hoedebecke and continued the Willenborg Shoe Store for about forty years. At the time of his retirement he sold the business to his son William, since which time the store has been discontinued.

Mr. Willenborg is survived by his devoted wife, one son: William and two daughters: Mrs. Elizabeth Metten and Mrs. Frances Marks, besides seven grandchildren; one sister: Mrs. Barney Goldstein and three brothers: Clem of Effingham; Henry of Teutopolis; and Frank of Lillyville.

Mr. Willenborg's age at the time of his death was 77 years, 9 months and 18 days. He was a highly respected citizen of Effingham, Illinois, and a successful business man. He was a faithful member of St Anthony Church during his entire life-time, having been affiliated with the Holy Name Society of the parish. He also was a member of the Catholic Knights of America.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning, October 14th from St Anthony Church at Effingham, Illinois, beginning at 9 o'clock. Interment will take place in St Anthony Cemetery in that city.
