Loras M. Koerperich, 78, of 3467 Glencove Lane, died at home surrounded by his loving family, Sunday, April 13, 2003, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Centralia, Iowa. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, where there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. Koerperich worked for the former Dubuque Packing Co. for 34 years, retiring in October 1982. He was born on Dec. 22, 1924, in Lattnerville, Iowa, son of Joseph and Nellie (Evans) Koerperich. He married Rita Boge on Sept. 3, 1947, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Peosta. Loras enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and Rita also enjoyed traveling and dancing together.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Madeline Lahey, Margaret Scott and Marie Freiburger; and four brothers, Joseph, Francis and Donald Koerperich and Matthew in infancy.
A Loras M. Koerperich Memorial Fund has been established. The Koerperich family would especially like to thank Dr. Gretchen Fuerste, Dr. Mark Liaboe and his nurse, Trish, the staff at the Wendt Center, Dr. Zenk, Dr. Aigner and their staff and Hospice of Dubuque.
