Robert Walters, 76
Shelburne Falls, MA - Robert J. Walters, 76, of 35 Mechanic St., Shelburne Falls, Mass., died Nov. 7, 2001, at home.
He was born in Uniontown, Pa., Feb. 23, 1925, the son of Lester and Caroline (Bruce) Walters. He attended schools in Uniontown and was a graduate of Uniontown High School.
He was a World War II Army veteran, enlisting on April 17, 1943 and was discharged on Dec. 29, 1945. While serving in the South Pacific he met and married his wife, the former Betsy Graham.
Prior to retirement several ago, he was employed by the U.S. Post Office in Shelburne Falls for 33 years. Prior to the post office he worked for the Boston and Maine Railroad.
After retiring he worked for his son, Richard G. (Skip) Walters at the Fisherman's Catch Restaurant in Wells, ME until 1997.
He was a member of the Mt. Lodge of Masons and a former member of the Odd Fellows, both in Shelburne Falls and a member of the Shelburne Falls Recreation Committee.
He was also a former member of the BCS School Committee and coached Little League baseball and basketball for many years.
A private graveside service will be held at Arms Cemetery, Shelburne Falls, at the convenience of the family.
There are no calling hours.
It is suggested donations be made to Hospice of Western New England, 48 Sanderson St.
