Funeral services for Jasper (Jack) Carey, 89, resident of Estherville for the past 17 years, are to be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home, the Rev. Walter Pedersen of Calvary Gospel Assembly officiating. Burial is to be in East Side cemetery.
Pallbearers are to be two grandsons, Mervin and Marvin Grems; two grandsons-in-law, Walter Arnd of Gruver and Elmer Friesner, Williams, Minn.; and two nephews, Arnold and Leslie Carey.
Friends may call at Sandin Fuhrman until time of the services.
Mr. Carey died yesterday at 10:15 a.m. at Holy Family Hospital after an illness of approximately eight months. Before moving to Estherville, Mr. and Mrs. Carey lived on a farm near Gruver and before that had farmed in the Armstrong and Jack Creek areas.
They would have been married 64 years had Mr. Carey lived until Dec. 15. His survivors include his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Mary Alice Grems of Gruver; one son Charles of West Sacramento, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and three half brothers, John Campbell, Estherville; James Campbell, Fairmont and Jesse Campbell, Emmetsburg. Mr. Carey had two hobbies to which he devoted much time after his retirement. Mrs. Carey and he loved to garden and raise flowers and his second hobby was playing the violin, especially for the entertainment of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
