Glasco Sun, June 30, 1921, page 1:
William Mark Benson,
son of Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Benson, was born January 24, 1909 in Glasco, Kansas, and departed from this life June 23, 1921, at the age of 12 years, 4 months and 19 days.

His whole life has been spent in Glasco, here he attended the public school, making many friends among his playmates. He attended the Christian Sunday School and during the revival held last winter united with the Church, making his decision for himself after consulting his parents, who gladly gave their consent.

He seemed to truly realize that he could not get well, and was calm in the faith that he was going Home. He appreciated, so much, the beautiful flowers brought to his bedside by friends and playmates, and asked that they be thanked for their kindness, as he would not be able to thank them.

He took suddenly ill on Monday of last week and on Tuesday underwent an operation for appendicitis, but all that loving hands could do, would not avail to save the little life, which closed at ten minutes to six Thursday June 23. His earthly life is closed, his heavenly just begun. He leaves to mourn their loss, his father and mother, four sisters, Mrs. Harry McClintock of Simpson, Mrs. Nellie Pilcher of Glasco, Leona and Grace at home also five brothers survive: Leroy, Luke, Richard, John and Carl. Two sisters preceded him, one dying in infancy and Mrs. Myrtle McKim, who died in February 1921. Besides the relatives, many playmates and friends will feel keenly the vacant place left by his going away. But with Christian faith, we all must say "Thy will, not mine, be done."
Funeral services were held at the First Christian Church Sunday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. Rollyn Kaiser, and interment was in Glasco Cemetery.
