Born in Chicago, he wa the son of the late Earl and Lisbeth (Gleopke) Dawson. During the Korean War, 1950-54; he served in the US Navy. On Oct 30, 1982, he married Elizabeth Acker. He is also survived by three daughters, Deborah Cade, Laura Gruner and Gigi Dawson; son Scott Dawson
