Lenora Freda Haar, 97 formerly of Mazeppa, died Friday, September 9, 2011 at Fairview Red Wing Medical Center.

She was born July 8, 1914 in Mazeppa, the daughter of Leonhardt and Ida (Friese) Busse. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith by Pastor Gehm of Poplar Grove Lutheran Church, Pine Island on July 8, 1914. On July 10, 1927 she was confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Mazeppa by Pastor Waldamer P. Sauer. On September 26, 1934 she was united in marriage to Pastor Theo G. Haar by Reverend Wm. Haar of Loretto, Minnesota. This union was blessed with one daughter, Virginia E. Haar. Lenora attended area schools, graduating from Mazeppa High School in 1931, she then attended Winona State University from 1932-1933. She was a church organist at both Mazeppa and Bear Valley congregations for 60 years. She taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School at both congregations for many years. She was an active Ladies Aid member of her husband's two congregations, St. John's Bear Valley and St. John's Mazeppa.

Lenora is survived by her sister, Rena Degener of Lake City; nieces and nephews Larry (Irma) Degener of Lake City, Greg (Ardis) Grossbach of Owatonna, Beverly (Roger) Voth of Zumbrota, Carolyn (Norris) Voth of Goodhue, and Corrine (Marcus) Voth of Goodhue; many great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Theo G. Haar, daughter Virginia, parents; Leonhardt and Ida Busse; sisters, Cora Scheffler and Erna Grossbach; and brothers, Hubert, Norman, and Carl Busse.

A Funeral Service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, September 11, 2011 at St. John's Bear Valley with Reverend Alan Horn officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Bear Valley Cemetery or the Wisconsin Synod Mission.
